Torie is fierce advocate for Black girls, women, families, and public education. Rooted in liberation and equity, her work spans grassroots mobilization, cultural celebration, and systems change.

In June 2020, amid the pandemic and rising racial reckoning, Torie joined teachers, students, and community leaders in the 10-day protest in Detroit calling for justice and safer schools. Her efforts also included organizing an air-purifier drive for Detroit educators to protect their classrooms and communities during COVID-19.

Torie drives meaningful cultural spaces through the annual Black Girl Picnic, organizes empowering rides like the Black Girl Bike Ride, and fuels literacy with 1,000 Books for Black Girls—each initiative designed to uplift Black girls’ joy, movement, imagination, and access.

As Executive Director of BLK GRL CONGLOMERATE, she weaves together culturally affirming supports and community-first programming in Detroit: from wellness and mentorship to literacy and entrepreneurial empowerment.

Her lens is unapologetically intersectional: public-school defense, Black girl affirmation, and collective care.

Whether she’s organizing protests, securing classroom resources, or creating joyful experiences under the Detroit sky, Torie builds with purpose, heart, and generational intent.
